I am always thinking outside the box, it’s just part of what I do right?! I can’t accept rules or do’s and don’ts and I thought I would share a literal 2 minute outside the box transformation idea.
I was recently at Home Goods and found this amazing large 100% wool wall hanging for $40. I was, of course, immediately drawn to the colors and the style. Only to discover it was a wall hanging, whaaattt?!
No biggie, although I’m not looking for a wall hanging. I have been keeping my eye out for some kind of rug sitch for in front of my stove though. So I measure and sure of enough…I think this baby might work for me.
$15 later (after gift card, thanks to my MIL) I am out the door with my made in India wool wall hanging.
I get home and by golly, it’s perfect. So I decide to remove the hanger by simply cutting the rope on the hanging piece and removing it. (this way I can always make it a wall hanging later!)
Then I slapped on a few pieces of double sided sticky tape to keep it in place…..
And voila! A perfect cushy rug that’s not too big and definitely not too spendy for in front of my range. It’s colorful, it’s lush and it’s super easy to pick up and shake out whenever the need arises.
This is a perfect example of seeing something you love and making it work for you. Don’t be afraid to re-imagine something in a completely non-traditional way. Sometimes it will be the best thing!
What do you think? Would you ever take a wall hanging and make it a rug? What was the most out of the box thing you came up with?
