Alrighty my friends, I have decided to start doing a min-series to share with you the fab finds from all the local fleas I visit (travelling or stationary lol). I want to show you how versatile and global these can be. I know I have been annoyingly repetitious about it but it deserves the gentle reminder. : ) (insert giant toothy smile)
And now I present my last few weeks worth of finds and where/how I used them, there is some great stuff to be found folks!
The lamp on the left, the brass piece was a flea find! Here’s the full diy tutorial and how I only spent $25 on the whole lamp project!
Here’s a close up shot of the indian handmade textile I stumbled across at a flea market! Beautiful mirror pieces and handstitched patches it’s a gorgeous piece that definitely had some love put into it. (Check out this post where I share a day at the flea!) And this brass tray table, I’ve never shared a tray shot and here you can see the handstamped detailing up close! (It’s got a signature on the back too) Also a flea find from a few months back.
This chair! I recently found this baby in the back corner of a huge flea and it just sang out to me. “look at this stuff, isn’t it neat?! Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?” nope! (oh and ignore the weirdo children’s handprints on the fireplace, oops)
The details and the edges, woohoo and to top it off it is insanely comfortable! Like it hugs your back, sides and behind, ahhhhh.
These 2 cabinets, are antique mexican cabinets we found at a flea marked down over 70% off the dealers asking price AND they look super awesome stacked on top of each other extra bonus! (The bottom one has been adapted to hold wine bottles, but I don’t keep wine around long enough to store it! lol) (Here’s another post of a cool piece I found from a travelling flea!)
There are 2 in this shot! The brass peacock screen on the right. I ’bout fell over when I saw it folded up with a bungee cord around it. “Is it? OMG it is!!” My hubs all “what is it?” haha It’s in excellent shape and those fans all fold in and out nicely, so stoked about this find! The other is the marble stand under the plant. Scored this vintage brass base beauty 50% off at another flea! I’m thinking it would be equally lovely with a pretty cake on top. What do you think?
Picked this one up yesterday. It’s a copper stamped tray table. And look at those legs, helloooo good lookin! And the base folds up flat, what’s not to love?!
Here is the incredible detailing! It goes all the way around the rim and throughout the top and this whole piece was a whopping $30. YAS!! $30!! For reals I thought maybe I just couldn’t read. haha
These are my latest scores and each piece has a unique story (and was scored on the cheap) ALL from flea markets! My biggest tip for shopping the fleas is don’t give up. (Check out my 10 tips for shopping the fleas!!) I go weekly sometimes bi-weekly if I’m super busy but def regularly.
That might seem like a lot but I go for 2 reasons. One, I LOVE the hunt. It’s like searching for long lost buried treasure you aren’t even sure is there. And two, you can’t beat some of those prices for amazing pieces (some things are overpriced don’t get me wrong). Just be a smart shopper (if you love something but aren’t sure if it’s overpriced do a quick online search to see what comparables are selling for online. ie etsy, ebay, craigslist, chairish, etc) so you don’t overpay! And haggle! If you feel comfortable, ask at the cashiers desk if the booth owners accept offers. If they do you can offer a price on a piece and if they don’t sometimes you can get a standard 10% off just for asking. (hey it at least covers the tax!)
If you loved this post hit up the subscribe box in the sidebar as I’ll be bringing you more of these on the regular! Just too much good stuff not to share…..and hopefully convince you to start shopping like a pro at the fleas! ; )
