Freshening up the Front Porch!
In honor of summa summa summer time I wanted to share with you our front porch! I changed things up quite a bit recently and love the way it has come together. I don’t have any before pics to share because I didn’t have the foresight to take some, epic blogger fail! BUT I can tell you that you’re not missing anything. All that I had out here last summer was the woven bench with a few throw pillows, the wreath and a couple of planters. Then this spring I added the 2 white chairs and took out the bench. Yet it still didn’t look quite right, soooo I spent an hour playing around and here are the results!
I put back the bench and kept the chairs opposite, this helped the whole thing feel more balanced. Before with just the bench or the 2 chairs on one side it always felt kind of wonky (I have a major thing with symmetry). Then I pillaged the back patio and the house, because of course that’s what I do!
The pink side table, pillows, stand and white wreath here were all from the back patio and the small rug was from in the house. I threw a couple of pillows in the chairs, an outdoor throw and kabam you have a very comfortable seating area! This is where I sit and watch the kids play out front. (Chairs, wreath, side table, stand and rug are from Home Goods. Pillows and throw are from World Market)
These chairs are SO comfy!
On the opposite side of the porch sits my older woven bench, a couple of my animal statues, and outdoor lanterns. This gives us enough seating so that when one or more of my kids want to come and hang out where I’m at, they have somewhere to sit!
The plant came from inside the house and sits in a pretty yellow pot from Marshalls (last season). And my adorable doggie statue, that I spray painted bright pink when we painted all the back patio outdoor furniture. You can find info on the pink color and deets on painting it here.
Lanterns are from the Restoration Hardware Outlet and of course there’s George, the flying pig, sitting front and center comfy at the corner of the bench.
My favorite wreath of all time!! (also from Home Goods!)
I absolutely love this view from the front porch. So relaxing and cozy.
The front entrance into your home is a glimpse of what’s to come. Keeping that in mind I had some fun out here and I’m really happy with the result. Although my almost 11 year old daughter was ever the critic saying “Mom, I think there’s too much going on.” To which I replied “oh and when did you become a designer?” And she says “since today.” Gotta give it to her, the girl’s got sass! I wonder where she gets that from?
And just in case you’re wondering, after a couple of days she decided it looked pretty great after all and totally got on board. Momma always knows best.
